How long have we waited for a modern day Powermaster Optimus Prime that is highly posable, well made and gorgeous? Titans Return and TakaraTomy Legends didn't quite manage all of those elements (nor a cab bot). On their Twitter, MakeToys has shown off color images for Thunder Manus, the Optimus Prime deco of the mold first released as Thunder Erebus - their analogue to Nemesis Prime. You can stare at it or you can play with it, both options provide supreme satisfaction. It is because of that perfect execution of the adult Transformers collectable of a well-loved character that I award this figure the highest technical marks of any MakeToys figure thus far. Improved friction between the trailer connector and cab and a slightly more firmly attached waist piece would make this figure absolutely *perfect*. I am beyond hyped for the full Autobot-coloured Thunder Manus that's due later this year. And both sets are holding up fine.Add this highly sought after piece to your collection today at TFSource, your source for 3rd Party collectible transforming figures. I have messed more with Power Baser and God Armor sets (both red and black), than anything else in my collection over the past two years. Big, imposing, chunky, and strikes a perfect balance between the animated Ginrai character from Masterforce and the chunky lovable PMOP from the G1 toy box art and the 80’s Marvel comics. Once you master that part of it, he’s absolutely terrific. There are videos showing some of them but I have discovered a trick or two on my own that assists with closing up the side panels without having to force them. I feel like Power Baser has a great fun factor, there is just a little finesse and a few tricks needed for the cab-trailer combination. I had both, I got rid of Thunder Manus but I still mess with Power Baser all the time. So while you will get different answers from different people, I would recommend Power Baser over Thunder Manus without hesitation or qualification. It made me feel like the whole set was a Legends PM Prime, and I’m just not into that. But the core Prime on this thing is the size of a retail Legends figure. Ideally I would have liked the cab to be Striker Manus sized or at the very least, at that pricepoint, I was ok with the inner robot being the size of a small deluxe mainline figure. I have a few Legends scale figures but I am by no means a Legends collector. I just found the core and cab robot to be too small and delicate to have much fun with it. The biggest thing that turned me off of Thunder Manus, however, was the size. I actually broke one of those blue gauntlets and had to replace it for exactly that reason. And getting the blue arms for the Divine Armor set on and off was an absolute bear due to how tight the connection is. And in the condition MT is in right now, getting replacement parts is unlikely. Nothing involving the cab combination, but some tabs in the trailer wheel assemblies don’t hold very well and I had an ankle socket straight up crack because the ankle swivel is too tight. Thunder Manus is easier to transform but has some fiddly bits and problem areas. Click to expand.I had both, I got rid of Thunder Manus but I still mess with Power Baser all the time.
